This client purchased the Henry Gilman Apartments building in 2005 and hired Brownhouse to completely renovate the property's outdated main level. The scope of the project included removing an interior, in-ground swimming pool and replacing it with a community lounge, adding a fitness center and computer room, and renovating the large outdoor patio, leasing office, and main entry and lobby.

The new spaces needed to be student friendly, and trendy, but also needed to reflect the owner's traditional brand image. Brownhouse used classic elements like wood floors, decorative wall panels, exposed brick, and clean-lined furniture in current colors. Also, multiple gathering spaces were created for use by many residents at one time and a large two-sided fireplace makes the space feel inviting.
