Laurel McManus Brown
President and Owner
Laurel McManus Brown is an owner and founder of Brownhouse, an architecture and interior design firm located in Madison WI, and Tucson AZ. Laurel worked as head of corporate architecture for Kahler Slater Architects (headquartered in Milwaukee WI),
and HSR Associates in Madison, WI. Previously, Laurel owned a commercial design firm in Atlanta, GA for 12 years, providing services to some of the world’s largest companies, including AT&T, Lucent Technologies, The Food & Drug Administration, and Atlanta’s leading multi-family housing provider, Post Properties. Laurel holds an undergraduate degree from the University of Alaska, and an MBA from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Laurel also serves on the Executive Residence and Wisconsin State Capitol board of directors, and donates much of her time to local higher education institutions promoting the understanding of the design industry.
Shane Fry
Architect and Owner
Shane Fry, AIA, joined Brownhouse in 2004 and became co-owner in 2012. Prior to joining Brownhouse, Shane worked in the graphic arts industry. Shane holds a Bachelor of Science from the School of Architecture and Urban Planning at the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee. While at Brownhouse Shane has designed and managed hundreds of new and renovation projects. Ranging from multi million dollar high rise condominiums to small boutique retail and restaurant environments. Shane skillfully guides the client through the challenges of city and neighborhood approval processes, site complications, and competitive bidding. Laurel and Shane form a dynamic design team, each bringing unique talents to the firm’s work. They continuously receive media accolades for their professional business style and high-quality design expertise. Together, as Brownhouse, they create unforgettable environments for their clients.
