This client purchased Henry Gilman Apartments in 2005 and hired Brownhouse to completely renovate the property’s outdated main level. The project scope included removing an interior, in-ground swimming pool and replacing it with a community lounge, fitness center and computer room, and renovating the large outdoor patio, leasing office, main entry and lobby. The new spaces needed to be student-friendly and trendy, while reflecting the owner’s traditional brand image. Brownhouse used classic elements like wood floors, decorative wall panels, exposed brick and clean-lined furniture in current colors. Multiple gathering spaces were created and a large two-sided fireplace makes the space feel inviting.
